Guests
and families will learn more about Native American weapons and tools
from our distinguished guest speaker - Thad Beckum.
Thad is part Cheraw Pee Dee Indian and has
devoted most of his adult life to studying Native Americans and
their primitive weapons. Thad grew up hunting and fishing here, in
Georgia, and is a renowned primitive bow hunter and maker. To date he
has taken 34 deer, 2 wild turkeys and numerous wild hogs with his
hand-made primitive bows and arrows.
Thad has produced multiple
educational and informative DVD's on how to make and hunt with Native
American Primitive Weapons. He will be on site Saturday to teach you about Native American weapons and will conduct demonstrations on the different aspects of making these weapons.
Families will arrive in camp on Friday afternoon and spend some time fishing, hog hunting*, shooting bows/guns and enjoying all the amenities we have to offer at Woods-N-Water™ .
On Saturday there will be numerous seminars on Native American history and culture, their weapons/tools as well as Thad's demonstrations on making primitive weapons like primitive bows, arrows and spears. Later in the afternoon we will talk about where and how to find Native American artifacts on your own land!
On Sunday participants will be able to do some artifact hunting right on the property. Woods-N-Water Plantation is located on a major trade route for the Native Americans and is the home of numerous Native American camp sites that date as far back as 10,000 years ago. We have recovered thousands of artifacts on these campsites which are now displayed in our on-site museum. During your stay, you will be allowed to visit our museum and hunt for Native American artifacts located on the property. Aside from artifact hunting, guests are encouraged to enjoy all of the amenities that
Woods-N-Water™
has to offer. In your free time you are welcome to do some hiking around the property, go fishing at one of our many private ponds and lakes, go wild hog hunting, spend some time shooting your bow, shotgun, rifle or pistol, and enjoy sitting around the campfire or in the four-person hot tub.
We at Woods-N-Water™ are excited to bring this new attraction to Middle Georgia and we look forward to educating you on our Native Americans and providing a fun-filled outdoor experience for the entire family!

"My 14-year-old son and I recently spent a weekend at Woods N Water, taking advantage of their Artifact Adventures and working in some hog hunting and fishing while we were there. Simply put, these guys do it right! Hogs are aplenty, with opportunities both nights we hunted to harvest a hog. The Artifact Adventure was all I hoped it would be, plus more. Extremely interesting and informative day learning about the Native American people groups that inhabited the land thousands of years ago, topped off with several hours roaming through freshly plowed dirt searching for artifacts. To say that we found some super cool (and super old) stuff is an understatement - we found a lot! Overall, it was a memorable weekend and we cannot wait to make another trip down. Lodging, with very comfortable beds, is included as part of your stay. From the moment you arrive, you are warmly welcomed and feel like you have arrived at your home away from home. Top ratings all around!" - Drew Chrisohon
"What I loved about Woods-N-Water was all of the nice people that greeted us right when we got there. I also loved that I was able to hunt for artifacts that could date back to be over 10,000 years old. The hog hunting was great and I would go back every day if I could. I loved that I was able to spend some much needed quality time with my dad, while we were hunting hogs and looking for artifacts. I loved that the Woods-N-Water plantation was sitting on a major piece of history, I loved how I was able to help uncover pieces of history with them too. With the knowledge I learned about Native Americans and how to find their artifacts, I am now able to take this knowledge and use it to find my own artifacts in my backyard. If I could, I would come back to Woods-N-Water every weekend to hunt hogs and look for artifacts." - Eli Chrisohon (14 yrs)
"It's been a great time. I'd highly recommend it for anyone who's interested in artifacts and people who want to spend time with their kids or grandkids." - Terry Joyner
"Had a ball. Excited to take a lot of the stuff I learned here and will use it at home." - Neil Lyons
"This past weekend my son and I had a great time with the staff at Woods-n-Water. We attended the camp's first artifact adventure and boy were we blown away!!! Alex and Blaine were great hosts and very pleasant to be around. Thad brought a wealth of knowledge about our Native American predecessors. I will definitely be attending one of these again. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!!!" - Ty Herrington
